Flash/Web Developer, Cisco Systems

Took web-based applications from conceptual design to full realization, using whichever tools suited the project, whether Flash, Ajax or Perl. This included, the design, development and deployment of innovative client-side interfaces, the modeling and implementation of database schema, and the creation of middleware to link client to infrastructure. Used Scrum techniques to stay agile and iterative. Created many dynamic and innovative Ajax and Flash based interfaces and applications, which included elements such as video, images and data. Recent projects included:
- Collaborated on a team to create a Lucene-based search engine for the media content within Engineering Learning. Was responsible for the creation of the user interface and middleware proxies to connect to the Java-based web services. The new search greatly enhanced the user experience for searching content, realizing an increase in search speed by almost 3000%. Used Spry, Ajax, JavaScript, Perl, DHTML and CSS.
- Worked with the Media Services team under Engineering Learning to create a dynamic and scaling Flash interface, which plays or displays audio, video, images or swfs based on a timecode driven playlist. Used Flash, Actionscript 2, Flash Media Server and XML. Am updating it to Actionscript 3 and to make use of the new technologies in Flash Player 10.
- Worked with Central Development Organization HR to update their hiring and training process from a manual one to an automated web process. This application saved them several hundred man-hours per month. Employed Scrum techniques to keep the project agile and highly iterative for the client’s changing needs. Used Ajax, Spry, JavaScript, Perl, Oracle, XML, DHTML, XHTML and CSS.
- Worked with the Voice Technology Group to create an educational module on User Centered Design. It used Ajax and Flash components, which interacted with each other throughout the different steps in the training. The interface was built pixel perfect to the designer’s specifications and in a scalable way for future modules. Used Flash, Actionscript 2, Ajax, JavaScript, Perl, XML, Oracle, DHTML, XHTML and CSS.
